PERSONALITY Before the tragic death of Gerhardt, Elizabeth was a happy, flamboyant young woman. She loved to dance at all the balls she was invited to, mostly with Victor and Gerhardt, since they were always easier to talk to and have fun with. She saw the Frankenstein family as her own, and loved them all very much. When she loves someone she loves them fiercely, it doesn’t matter in which capacity she loves you, it will fill her whole heart. She is a very strong young woman, willing to do anything for the people she believes deserves it. And if she loves a person, her will to help them will be even stronger, and she will do whatever she can to help and keep them safe. As she showed in her efforts to keep Gerhardt safe after Victor and Alphonse was no longer there to look after him. After she got married to Richard and he showed her what a monster he truly was, she became more subdued, and more prone to hide, since he had given her scars that she didn’t want anyone to see. But that didn’t mean she stopped fighting for Gerhardt’s safety, she just did it in a different way. HISTORY In The Land Without Color: Elizabeth’s life started out very harshly, with both her parents dying and her being left to herself while still virtually being a baby. For a while she was taken in by a poor family, who took care of her to the best of their abilities. The Frankenstein family had been very good friends of her parents, so when they found out what happened, they took her in and gave her a good and happy home. Since she was too young to remember her own parents, she soon began to see Alphonse and Caroline as her parents, and Victor and Gerhardt as her brothers. As she grew older she became closer to both of the Frankenstein boys. Victor became more and more like a big brother and her best friend. She loved listening when he spoke of his experiments, and the passion with which he talked about it. She did her best to support him in his passion, like Gerhardt did when Alphonse wasn’t as supportive as you could wish your father was. Gerhardt on the other hand became more and more like a man she could fall in love with, and in the end she did. He was so kind to everyone around him, and did his best help them in any way he could. That made Elizabeth fell for him very quickly. As they grew closer and closer, it was decided that they should marry, and Elizabeth was over the moon with joy at that decision. But suddenly disaster struck the family, Gerhardt died tragically and Elizabeth’s heart broke beyond repair by the loss. But she knew that she had to marry someone, even if she didn’t want to, that was what women did. At first Alphonse suggested that she married Victor, but she couldn’t do that. He was her big brother, and she knew very well that she would never be able to love him the way a wife should. She wanted him to have the chance to find the woman of his dreams, and not be stuck with a woman he saw as his sister. So Alphonse did his best to find her a new man to marry, and found a nobleman by the name of Richard Hastings. He seemed nice enough at the beginning, so she agreed to marry him, even though she knew she would never love him as much as she had loved Gerhardt. But she did her duty and married him. After they were married it didn’t take long for Richard to show his true colors, as soon as Elizabeth moved to his home he became extremely possessive about her. He wouldn’t let her go back to visit Victor and Alphonse and help them though their grief, he wouldn’t even let her go anywhere without him. The more miserable she became, she became more prone to disobeying him, and the more she tried that, the crueler he became. Since she wasn’t allowed to see or contact Victor or Alphonse, she had no idea that Victor brought Gerhardt back to life, or that Gerhardt killed Alphonse. But when Richard found out he relished in the idea of telling Elizabeth and watching her crumble in pain. When she was told her heart broke all over again by the loss of the man she had seen as her father. But what hurt her most was the idea that Gerhardt had become a mindless monster who would kill a man he used to love so much, it was too much to bear for her. She didn’t even know that Victor had disappeared, before the villagers began talking about raiding the Frankenstein mansion and killing the monster in there. They were of course urged on by Elizabeth’s husband and his lust for killing the man his wife loved so much. So that’s when started being more loving towards her husband, because she thought if she seemed like she loved him, he would leave Gerhardt alone. And it worked, but she hated that she had to be so loving toward a man who was usually so cruel to her, but she would do it to keep Gerhardt safe. In Storybrooke (after the Second curse): Then suddenly, without warning of any kind, she found herself in a strange new world. At first she was angry to be taken away from home, because who would now protect Gerhardt? And what if Richard thought she had run away to be with Gerhardt? Would he then go to kill him? Then she wondered if Richard had also been taken to this strange world, that thought made her extremely afraid to be seen by anyone, so she hid in the wood around the town she learned was called Storybrooke. She also because she didn’t want anyone to see the scars in her face, they were too horrible and she really thought people would be scared of her if they ever saw her. But then one day she saw a person that she never thought she would see again. Victor was in the strange new place she had been brought to, and he seemed to be alive and well. She had truly thought that he had died when he suddenly disappeared from their own world. But it seemed she had been mistaken. Now she lives in town, and is looking for a job. She is very happy to have her brother back, though she still lives in fear of Richard one day coming to the town as well. RP SAMPLE There were many different monsters in the worlds, Elizabeth knew that well, she was probably the one who knew it best of all. People might think that Gerhardt was the worst monster ever to walk the earth, and that he should be killed as soon as possible. And think that Elizabeth’s husband, Richard, was the greatest gentleman of them all, but he was truly a much worse monster than Gerhardt could ever be. True, it might be the love she had for Gerhardt that clouded her judgement of him, but she could and would never be able to see the monster that everyone claimed he was. To be honest, she was beginning to see herself as a bit of a monster, the three scars around her right eye was really terrible to look at, and she wouldn’t be surprised if people were afraid of her when they saw those. Of course she had tried to cover them up with many things, but they were always visible no matter what she did. It took a lot for her to even be able to look at her own reflection now, she was so disgusted by by the scars. Though they made her feel like a monster, never made her feel worse than the man who gave them to her. They had been inflicted on her by her husband, because she had been so bold to defend Gerhardt in front of him. But in a way that also made her proud of them, it was her way of knowing that she had been willing to fight to protect the man she loves, and she would do it again if it was necessary.
